Getting Results for our Neighborhoods

  • Successfully advocated for a change in City Policy to underground high voltage power lines in the community.
  • Guided support to repave streets curb-to-curb following water/sewer construction projects.
  • Planted more than 300 trees throughout the District.
  • Installed over 200 mid-block lights in neighborhoods.
  • Secured funding for Citizen ’s Patrol and Safe Streets Now! to help make our communities safer.

Committed to our Children

  • Successfully worked to build the new North Park Elementary School.
  • Expanded John Adams Elementary School in Normal Heights.
  • Supported to expand the 6-to-6 After School Program in elementary and middle schools.
  • Worked with Garfield Task Force to upgrade and re-open Garfield Elementary School.
  • Visited all the public schools to assess needs in the communities of the District.

Working within the Community

  • As a Senior Aide to Councilmember Christine Kehoe,Toni is working in the neighborhoods and community everyday.
  • Toni ’s commitment to the community has earned her several awards,such as: Outstanding Support for Non-Profits in Affordable Housing, Woman of the Year by San Diego Pride and the Doug Scott Award for Political Action by the San Diego Democratic Club.
  • Toni is a volunteer at ElderHelp and for the San Diego and Hillcrest/North Park Citizens Patrol.

Fighting Crime and Making our Communities Safe

  • Established the police storefront in North Park.
  • Worked to reduce prostitution on El Cajon Boulevard.
  • Pushed the funding for the Homeless Outreach Team (H.O.T) and supported the Psychological Emergency Response Team (P.E.R.T.) to make police efforts more successful.
  • Assisted in securing additional funding for Firefighters and public safety programs.
  • Put more police officers in more neighborhoods.
  • Succeeded in getting cars for the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (R.S.V.P).
