Some of Pam Slater's Actions on behalf of Libraries

  • Five new libraries for the communities of Cardiff, Bonita, Rancho San Diego, Spring Valley and Valley Center are included, along with the expansion of library services at existing branches. (1999)
  • Won Board support for Proposition L, the Community Libraries Enhancement Ordinance. (1998)
  • Allocated a total of approximately $1 million from the District Three Discretionary Budget to community organizations. The funds were divided among such organizations as the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation, the San Dieguito River Park JPA, the San Elijo Lagoon Conservancy, the Quail Botanical Gardens Foundation, San Dieguito Park, and county libraries at Del Mar, Rancho Santa Fe, Cardiff, Solana Beach and Encinitas.   • Directed the Chief Administrative Officer to explore the feasibility and costs of building a new library in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. (1998)
  • Proposed the formation of the San Diego County Library Authority to have the Authority submit to County voters a 1/4-cent sales tax increase for five years only, exclusively for community and neighborhood library purposes.
