SAN DIEGO COUNTY SUPERVISOR – GETTING THE JOB DONE FOR YOU!

ENDORSED BY DEPUTY SHERIFFS AND POLICE OFFICERS – Helped reduce crime by over 40%, added 2,000 jail beds and over 500 Deputy Sheriffs and correctional officers.

ADVOCATE FOR QUALITY OF LIFE – Authored nationally recognized open space preservation plan to protect 172,000 acres from development; fought to protect San Dieguito River Park, San Elijo and Penasquitos Lagoons and canyons from destruction. NO offshore oil drilling.

TAXPAYER WATCHDOG – Saved taxpayers over $35 million annually by instituting private-sector competition providing better, more cost-effective government services, earning the County two Taxpayers Association Golden Watchdog Awards.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY – Restored County’s fiscal health with A+ bond rating, a balanced budget and $300 million in reserves.

WELFARE TO WORK – Moved nearly 38,000 families from welfare to work, restoring their independence and saving taxpayers approximately $480 million.

ANIMAL PROTECTION – Led efforts to build new animal shelter to provide humane care for lost or abandoned dogs and cats. Instituted County "no kill" policy.

DEVELOPER FREEWAY IMPROVEMENTS – Led negotiations requiring new development to pay for freeway and street improvements before home construction begins. Provided critically needed funds to complete SR 56, I-15 and I-5.
