  • Countywide sheltering program for animals of women and children fleeing domestic violence.
  • Created, along with San Diego City Councilwoman Valerie Stallings, a public-private committee to find a new site and build a new central animal shelter. Allocated $175,000 to build new security kennels at the South County animal shelter, freeing up about 30 spaces for adoptable animals at the Central and North County shelters.
  • North County Shelter upgrade project, which added 16 new kennels.
  • Established the Relief Veterinarian program.
  • Approved contract for Implantable Pet Identification Microchips.
  • Supported one-stop dog licensing, allowing vets to issue dog licenses to owners.
  • Received the Vision and Leadership award from the San Diego County Department of Animal Control.
